da blaze casino: Jose Mourinho has been appointed the Manchester United manager and ever since, there have been endless rumours of transfers in and transfers out of Old Trafford.
da bwin: Mourinho is one of the best managers in the world and is now at the helm of England’s most successful club, a move that he has wanted to make for many years.
In the centre of the speculation of players leaving Manchester United is Daley Blind. The Dutchman and Mourinho’s paths have not yet crossed, yet Sky Sports believe that the Portuguese tactician has already deemed the versatile star, as well as Juan Mata, as surplus to requirements, while Sport believe Barcleona are ready to pay €18m (£14m) for the Oranje ace.
This seems an odd one as Blind has proven himself to be reliable since his move to Old Trafford, so here are FIVE reasons why it would be a mistake for Mourinho to let him go…
Experience
At 26, Daley Blind is a very experienced player. Blind has played everywhere along the midfield and defence for both Ajax and Manchester United and is a great figure for the younger players at United to look up to. The midfielder/defender also has 31 caps for the Netherlands, albeit his dad, Danny, is the manager!
Right Place, Right time
Blind has the knack or popping up when the team needs him, for example, he tucked away a tidy opener against Liverpool earlier in the season to get Manchester United going, as well as scoring a last minute header to rescue a point for United against West Ham in the previous season. Blind is perhaps United’s ‘Mr Reliable’.
Versatility
As mentioned, Blind is more than capable of playing in any position that he is needed. If Manchester United suffer an injury crisis, Blind is able to fit into the side anywhere along the midfield and in any position at the back, a player that can adapt this well is surely a player worth keeping.
keep the system
Despite a mediocre season in Manchester with United finishing in 5th position, one part of the team’s performances that can be given high praise is the defence. United kept 15 clean sheets and conceded the lowest amount of goals in the league, 35. Daley Blind played in 35 of the 38 league games throughout the campaign. David De Gea isn’t the only man saving United, you know.
Consistency
Blind played in every single minute of Manchester United’s record equalling FA Cup win this season. He may not be the star performer and grabbing all the headlines but he is certainly a key figure in the United side.
