da cassino: Although David Gold’s Twitter gaffe may have somewhat spoiled the addition of Pedro Obiang, there’s no way fans of West Ham are feeling any way other than positive right now.
da mrbet: Sam Allardyce has gone, a club cult hero in the shape of Slaven Bilic is in the dugout and a season of European football ahead of the long-awaited switch to the Olympic Stadium is on the cards.
And just make things that little bit more encouraging Loic Remy is reportedly a target. The France international is certainly the calibre of player needed if the Hammers are to kick on and make themselves regular European qualification contenders… and here are FIVE reasons we at Football FanCast believe that Bilic needs to get this deal done.

Proven Premier League record
Since his initial arrival in England in January 2014, Remy has netted 27 Premier League goals. Considering that the initial six months of his time in England were with relegation-bound QPR and his most recent campaign was spent as Diego Costa’s back-up at Chelsea, the Frenchman’s record is mightily impressive. His only full season in which he was a regular starter yielded 14 goals (roughly one in two) in the black and white shirt of Newcastle, and with the Magpies and Hammers very much sides of similar calibre – midtable in terms of budget and quality – his chances of success in East London appear strong.
Different option

Andy Carroll is a target man, Diafra Sakho is a robust penalty-area forward and Enner Valencia is a bustling wide attacker… so a fleet-footed, intelligent forward would be the perfect addition. Remy is very much that, with pace, movement and positioning the hallmarks of his game. The 28-year-old is comfortable as a lone striker, a part of a front two or as an inside forward from a wider position, which would allow Bilic to rotate his options and keep opponents guessing.
Statement of intent
Although not a global star or a mega money addition, Remy would be a major coup for West Ham. A Premier League champion and a player with proven pedigree in English football, the ex-Marseille man would show that the Hammers mean business when it comes to seeing out their last season at Upton Park ahead of the Olympic Stadium move. After all, he would command an £8m fee at least and won’t come cheap in terms of salary.
European experience
With the back door to Europa League football having been opened via the fair play route, West Ham will be in continental action. Their journey will start in under a month’s time with a spot in the first round of qualifying their reward for a decent 2014/15 season, leaving the Irons with at least six matches before the competition proper kicks off.
As it stands few players in the claret and blue have European experience, so with Remy having played in the competition before, as well as the Champions League, his know-how in two-legged continental ties could be of much use.
Build on the feel good factor
With Allardyce gone, Bilic in, Obiang signed up and the promise of up to a £25m spend, the whole vibe around West Ham is positive right now. The addition of Remy over the coming weeks would only serve to boost that feeling at the club and get the fans on board ahead of what could be a long, arduous and emotional season.
