On Monday, Rangers confirmed via their official website that they’d completed the signing of young Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos from HJK Helsinki on a three year deal.
The attacker has been in red hot form for the Finnish side in their season so far. Currently 19 games deep into the campaign, he’s scored a magical 17 goals.
He’s Pedro Caixinha’s sixth Rangers signing of the summer as he continues his complete overhaul of the squad in an effort to progress in Europe and somehow close the gap on Celtic.
Morelos has been receiving some kind praise and comparisons in the Scottish media this week and as reported by The Daily Record, his adviser Jonne Lindblom reckons you can draw a comparison in his game to Barcelona superstar Luis Suarez.
As quoted by The Record, Lindblom said:
As soon as we found out the interest from Rangers we quite quickly figured out that was the perfect club for him to take the next step. In terms of his style of play he reminds me a bit of Luis Suarez. Obviously only one of them is a world class player but, in terms of how he controls the ball, how he shoots in really small spaces without needing a lot of time.
While that may sound exciting for fans of the Light Blues, it’s a comparison that’s drawing ridicule from supporters in the green half of Glasgow who see this as an attempt to overhype his arrival.
They took to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all…
