Zinedine Zidane shocked the footballing world on Thursday afternoon when he revealed that he was stepping down as head coach of Real Madrid.
Zidane led the Madrid giants to a third straight Champions League title last weekend, but the Frenchman will not be in charge of Los Blancos entering the 2018-19 campaign.
Gareth Bale looked almost certain to leave Real Madrid this summer due to his difficult relationship with Zidane, who left the Welshman out of his starting XI for the Champions League final against Liverpool last weekend.
Manchester United are believed to be keen to sign the former Tottenham Hotspur attacker this summer, but Zidane’s departure could well change the situation.

At least that is what the United supporters now expect to happen, with the bulk fearing that Zidane’s exit has ended the chances of Bale moving to Old Trafford in this summer’s transfer window.
Bale came off the bench to score twice against Liverpool in Kiev, and threw his future into doubt with his comments after the match.
