da leao: According to reports in the Daily Mail, Southampton are lining up a £12m move for Lazio centre-back Wesley Hoedt as a potential replacement for Liverpool target Virgil van Dijk.
da brwin: The Saints skipper has been heavily linked with a move to the Merseyside outfit throughout the summer, and manager Mauricio Pellegrino left him to train on his own at the south coast outfit’s Staplewood base last week as the rest of the squad jetted out to France as part of their pre-season preparations.
Now they are considering making a move for Hoedt, according to the Daily Mail, who was an impressive performer for the Serie A giants during his 23 appearances in the Italian top flight last season.
Southampton supporters were quick to have their say on the link via social media, and they were divided with their opinions.
While some believe he would be a better centre-back addition than someone like Tottenham’s Kevin Wimmer, who is a target according to reports on The Telegraph last Friday, others feel the club shouldn’t be signing “a £12m nobody” to replace Van Dijk if he does go.
